\"jan<\/a>In June, 2014, Ligia Solano noticed that her dog Khloe was urinating blood.\u00a0 \u201cIt was a lot of blood,\u201d she said, \u201cnot just a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ligia was worried so she took Khloe, a fetching Shih Tzu mix, to Pomona Valley Veterinary Hospital.\u00a0 Dr. Tahir Khan did an x-ray and urinalysis. \u201cHe told me she had a bladder stone,\u201d she said. \u201cYou could see it on the x-ray.\u00a0 And he told me he could do the surgery and it would cost $1,500.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told the doctor and the receptionist I didn\u2019t have that amount of money.\u00a0 I was worried because I wanted to take care of my dog. She\u2019s been with us since 2009 and she\u2019s part of the family.\u00a0 She\u2019s like my baby.\u201d<\/p>\n

The receptionist told Ligia about Angel Fund. She filled out an application form and submitted the documents the foundation asked to see.\u00a0 \u201cThey told me they would review my paperwork and see if I could qualify,\u201d Ligia said. \u201cThanks to God and thanks to them I qualified.\u00a0 And I only had to pay $300.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Kahn did the surgery and Khloe \u2013 who is about 7 years old \u2013 is fine today, Ligia said. \u201cI have to buy her prescription food and it\u2019s much more expensive. But it\u2019s worth it because I love my dog.\u201d<\/p>\n

People at the hospital \u201cwere so kind. They care about the dogs.\u00a0 They tried to help me as much as they could. Every time I go there they make me feel very, very welcome.\u00a0 They\u2019re really good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ligia, a part-time dental assistant, lives in Chino with her husband Leonel and Khloe. She expects that Klohe will be a part of her family for many more years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
