The lot was distributed to veterinary clinics between June 2011 and May 2012 throughout the U.S. and Canada and was not sold in retail stores.<\/p>\n<p>Nestle Purina said cats fed this lot exclusively for several weeks may be at risk for developing a deficiency of thiamine, which is an essential vitamin for cats.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nestle SA is voluntarily recalling one lot of canned cat food after a product sample by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration indicated a low level of thiamine, or vitamin B1.
