\/><\/p>\n<h2>About the Recall<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cBeefy Munchies\u201d was distributed nationwide through distributors selling to various retailers.<\/p>\n<p>The product comes in individual bags, resealable bags and plastic tubs.<\/p>\n<p>The plastic tub will be labeled \u201cBeefy Bites\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>All sizes and packaging types will include a UPC code, lot number, and a best used by date of stamped on the back.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>current recall is expanded<\/strong>\u00a0to include all \u201cBeefy Munchies\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.<\/p>\n<h2>What Caused the Recall<\/h2>\n<p>The potential for contamination was noted after routine sampling and testing by the Colorado Department of Agriculture revealed the presence of Salmonella in two 4-oz packages of \u201cBeefy Munchies\u201d.<\/p>\n<h2>About Salmonella<\/h2>\n<p>Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.<\/p>\n<p>Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever.<\/p>\n<p>Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.<\/p>\n<p>Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting.<\/p>\n<p>Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain.<\/p>\n<p>Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans.<\/p>\n<p>If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.<\/p>\n<h2>What to Do?<\/h2>\n<p>Any consumers who have purchased \u201cBeefy Munchies\u201d should discontinue use of the product and may return the unused portion to the place of purchase for a full refund.<\/p>\n<p>Consumers with questions may contact Smokehouse Pet Products, Inc. at
