My name is Chris. I live in Los Angeles. I am reaching out to ask for help with an emergency expense that arose when this little cat came to my front door around midnight when I was falling asleep on July 19th, 2025. He was crying over and over on my porch, and my cat, Luna, was staring through our iron door and crying back at this little one in the dark.

 

He let me scoop his frail body in my arms, and his wails of fear and fatigue went on until he finally fell asleep in my house. I rushed him to a clinic Sunday morning. The x-ray found that he had dense bones in his tummy from eating a bird or a rat and was in the midst of severe kidney collapse and pain.

 

The vet explained it would cost $5000 for surgery to try to save him, which my family and I could not afford. I elected to spare him any more suffering by allowing him to be euthanized. I held him so that he would not die in pain, alone in the dark.

 

All I could do was give him a home for a night, a name (Julius, because he was orange like an Orange Julius), and the mercy of a gentle passing.

 

The vet stunned me with the bill for his x-rays, blood work, and the charge for his euthanasia.
