The Buddy Charlie McDood Wongadez
The Buddy Charlie McDood Wongadez was Charlie's official name, but we called him Charlie, Buddy or Doooood for short. Charlie was a yorkipoo mix and we rescued our senior dog from a woman who could no longer care for him. He was 11 years old and turned 12 in February 2026. She couldn't remember his actual birthdate and only knew the month, so we celebrated it on Valentine's Day. We were blessed to have him for a little over 7.5 months as he brought more love and joy to our household.
Charlie didn't really bark on the first day with us and then he found his voice on the second day with so many outside sounds and Cookie, our other fur baby, barking with him. They were barking buddies. They'd run to the door together to bark at whatever. Charlie really disliked gardeners, especially when they used their blowers. He would bark nonstop at them and run to the back and front door barking when the gardener came by!
Charlie loved food! The kitchen was the "room of food" as he would venture there so often and he would look at the refrigerator and then look at us...he knew that was the "food box"! If Charlie could talk, his voice would be like a laid back surfer dude or a stoner! He loved his treatos too! We would throw the treats on their beds and have them hunt or graze for them and many times, Charlie as his cute derpy self, would say "where did it go?" He was too adorable when he did that.
Another thing Charlie loved was car rides. He loves feeling the breeze on his face. Most car rides with the pups, Charlie would be in the middle while Cookie sat on my lap. Then Charlie would climb on top of my lap, push Cookie aside to look out the window. He did that a few times or climb in the back seat to get his own window. He was smart and knew what he wanted.
Charlie wore bells on his collar so we could hear him when he walks up or next to us. He was super quiet and it was easy to trip over him. When he had the bells on, he sounded like Christmas reindeer when he trotted...just too cute. And his ears would flop up and down too!
We got Charlie some bow ties, bandanas and t-shirts so he could be stylish like Cookie, plus he came with clothes and toys when we picked him up. He had a Chewbacca stuffie that he liked and when Charlie would growl, it sounded like Chewbacca!
There are so many wonderful memories that we have of Charlie. We truly miss our little dood. He's happily frolicking over the Rainbow Bridge.
