Martina

We've had 6 wonderful dogs throughout our 55yrs of marriage, each proceeding the passing of the previous.  Each one had their own personality but Martina was the most unique in many ways.  She was very prey driven-lizards, squirrels and possums beware.  She would bring in her trophies to us for approval it seemed.  Her daily walkies were aptly named "sniffaries".  Her show of affection was mostly, "I'm near you for a pet so you may begin".  There was one specific thing she always did when my husband would get up from his place on the sofa.  She would come over, hop up onto his still warm spot and wait.  Upon his return, she looked up as if to say, "Hey, you left-I'm sitting next to Mom now".  We think she was raised by cats.  But she did love us in her own way and we grieve her passing.  The light that left her eyes as she lay on that metal table, was rekindled in a soft golden face, begging for a chance to love and be loved.  Martina would have approved of Sam, our next rescue-a fellow stray off the streets of Mexico.  And so, this saga continues.  Martina will be honored.
